Louisa United March & Rally

All are invited to join in the peaceful march on July 25th from 10am-12pm. The starting and ending point is the Louisa Town Park at 108 Meadow Street in Louisa.

Dynamic speakers will give brief remarks at the starting point as well as at each of the stops including the sheriff’s office, county administration office and courthouse. There will be a Voter Registration drive. Participants must wear a mask. We look forward to your support of unity as we make Louisa County a more inclusive place to live, learn, work and play!

The purpose of the Louisa United group is to demonstrate unity and the inclusion of all people, appreciating the differences and commonalities among us all, advocating for all steps that make Louisa County a better place for black, brown and all citizens to live and holding accountable those persons in authority so that the steps we advocate for are put in place. We intend to address inequalities and injustices in Louisa County and to increase cooperation, solidarity and love among the Louisa community.

Dems Book Drive

Friends,

The LCDC continues to sponsor our book drive to collect and distribute books during the Summer Food Service Program at the county elementary schools. Meals are provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11. As families drive in to receive the meals, we have an assortment of books for all ages to offer every member of the family.

Can you

  • Donate books?
  • Volunteer at the school to distribute books?
  • Pick up book donations from individuals?

Thanks to our membership and community donations, and a gift from the Macmillan Publishing Service, we can offer new and gently used books for summer reading.

Right now we have an abundance of books for children and adults, but we need more selections for young adults. If you have books or time to help, I am including a brief sign-up link for June. We will be distributing at Thomas Jefferson and Jouett elementary schools. Please click here to fill out the volunteer form,  or text or email me for more information.

A member at the June meeting requested titles for YA books, so I am attaching a list of favorites and current books Young adult list

Thanks to all for the books and help.
